Investigators reported that multiple frames revealed rounded bulb-like forms together with hanging elements consistent with strings and partially deflated balloons. This combination of irregular shape, dangling structures and infrared artefacts created an image that looked stranger than the underlying object may actually have been.

What behaviour counted against anomaly claims

The strongest argument against an anomalous interpretation came from the object’s behaviour rather than its appearance.

AARO examined the full 17-minute video, geolocation information from the aerostat platform, line-of-sight data and weather conditions. The office concluded that the object’s movement was consistent with wind-driven drift rather than powered flight. AARO specifically noted that the object’s east-to-west travel matched expected wind behaviour.
